Activity: SOLE Free Market Symposium

Date: July, 2022

Location: Yambio, South Sudan

Overview: The Students Organization for Liberty and Entrepreneurship brought together 513 students, civil society leaders, and entrepreneurs to learn about economic freedom. Eamon Butler’s Introduction to Trade and Globalisation was also distributed to participants.

Activity: Uhuru Conference: “Educate and Empower” – Liberty Sparks

Date: June, 2022

Location: Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania

Overview: Over 600 students gathered in person and virtually to attend a conference focused on cross-border trade, globalisation, the AfCFTA, and how Africa can become more free and prosperous.

In this video, Alexander discusses the potential offered by an African Continental Free Trade Area and the benefits that such a free trade area would bring not only to different sectors of the African economy, but to countries across the world.

Podcast: The IATP’s Director, Alexander Hammond, recently sat down with David Ansara from the Centre for Risk Analysis to discuss how free trade can help reduce poverty across Africa.

In the podcast, Alexander and David discuss the link between free trade and prosperity, the barrier to trade that exists on the continent, and the economic potential of the newly-created African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

In the webinar, the IATP’s Director, Alexander Hammond was joined by Franklin Cudjoe, Douglas Carswell and Ibrahim Anoba, three esteemed members of the IATP’s advisory council. As well as introducing the initiative, they discussed what the future holds for African free trade and if the new AfCFTA really can revolutionise the continent’s economy.
